As Hurricane Ian approached the West Coast of Florida, the fishing communities prepped their boats, secured traps and gear, and patiently waited to see who the chosen city would be.
At first, the Tampa Bay area seemed to be where Ian would be headed. Both the Cortez and Tampa chapters communicated and helped each other out as much as possible. Once the storm changed track to hit further south everyone prayed for the best for our neighboring fishing community.
Once the storm had passed, and roads were able to be drive on again, the Cortez chapter got to work helping the Fort Meyers area before even fixing their own roofs, boats, and other damages. Their "framily" to the south needed their help more.
